SSG Thomas Kualii of 193rd Aviation, C Company, submitted this winning photograph of six AH64 Apache Attack Helicopters protected by a HESCO Concertainer revetment made from Mil 7 units.
SSG Kualii is currently responsible for refuelling Apaches in Iraq, and is eagerly awaiting to be presented with his Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle on his return home to Hawaii in April 2005.
On being contacted with the news that his photograph had secured first prize, SSG Kualii said “I was so nervous to have opened your email, I practically closed my eyes! I am so excited and would like to thank you for choosing my photo.” |
The winning photograph captured exactly what the judges were looking for; interesting composition, good installation construction and an excellent quality image.
In addition to SSG Kualii winning a Harley Davidson, five lucky runners-up will receive a 40Gb Apple iPod for their efforts. The five runners-up were CW3 John Coufal of HHC 2-6 IN, SFC Luis Gonzalez of F Trp 9th Cav, WO2 Giles Penfound of UK MOD Media Operations, PFC Amanda Sagmille of HHC 3D BDE 1st ID, and Mr Peter Kunz.
Special mention goes to E-7 Jim Missey of 118th Med. Bn., Major Darrell Aubrey of 15th FSB, 1st Cav Div, LTC Garth Anderson of USA FEG, CW3 Joseph Kopecky of 239th MI Co, SSG Scott Logan of 82nd Military Police Co, E-8 Mathew Cervantes of 3747 MFTB, Major Robert Miceli of the Army Research Office, E-4 Walter Guzman of A 1/103 FA and LT Martin Groover of Commander Carrier Strike Group 6, who sent us photographs which gave us a laugh – they all win a unique engraved Zippo lighter!
A big thank you goes out to all who entered our competition, and we’re sorry if you didn’t win this time round. However, we will be running another massive competition in 2005, so watch this space!
A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone from all at HESCO Bastion Ltd.
